Description:
- Engraving near Alicante, in black and white. Etching on copper.
- In the engraving appears the ‘Beach of Babel’, formerly called ‘Beach of Baver’ and to the bottom the cape of Santa Pola.
- As can be seen in the engraving, this is one of the beaches of Alicante in the 19th century, where there are only a few palm trees and small boats.
- The engraver William Cooke, who grew up in an environment of artists, discovered his love for drawing and the art of engraving at an early age, and perfected it over the years.
- The draughtsman, Charles James Lewis, was extremely productive as an artist and often exhibited his works at the Royal Academy. He is considered a typical representative of genre painting. His paintings capture a moment, but tell a whole story. He paints characters as well as landscapes.
- In the lower margins, both right and left, are the identifications of the engraver and draughtsman.
- The engraving probably belongs to the publication of an English magazine of the 19th century. The title of the engraving is in English.
- It is of medium size, unframed and with some rust stains.
- The fact that the engraving has a Distinctive, Mark or Contrast is of great importance to be able to identify data such as the engraver, the artist, the place where it was printed and other details.

- General condition Good.
- The engraving has medium-thickness paper of good quality.
