Description:
- Engraving corresponding to Plate 51 on Architecture, belonging to the Popular Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts, produced by Federico Gillman, and compiled in accordance with the Iconographic Encyclopaedia and the Conversations Lexicon of Germany.
- The engraving depicts the Temple of Fame and St Louis’s Church in Munich, the Royal Theatre in Dresden (which burnt down in 1869), the 1855 Exhibition Palace in Paris, etc.
- The upper margin bears the title “ARCHITECTURE”, and the top right-hand corner is printed with “Lam. 51”, identifying it as Engraving number 51 in a series on architecture.
- The lower margin features the names of various churches, a temple and the Royal Theatre, all in Germany, as well as some buildings in Paris.
