Description:
- Engraving corresponding to Plate 53 on Architecture, belonging to the Popular Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts, produced by Federico Gillman, and compiled in accordance with the Iconographic Encyclopaedia and the Conversations Lexicon of Germany.
- The engraving depicts the Houses of Parliament in London, the monumental fountain in Prague, churches and the arsenal in Vienna, a theatre, the dome of St Thomas’s Church in Berlin, etc.
- The upper margin bears the title “ARCHITECTURE”, and the top right-hand corner is marked “Lam. 53”, identifying it as Engraving number 53 in a series on architecture.
- The lower margin lists the names of palaces, town halls, churches, museums, galleries and theatres in England, the Czech Republic, Vienna and Berlin.
