- By the colonel, lieutenant colonel of engineers D. Francisco Coello. The statistical and historical notes have been written by D. Pascual Madoz. Madrid. 1859.
- D. Francisco Coello de Portugal y Quesada (1822-1898) was a Spanish cartographer and military man, author of the Atlas de España y sus posesiones de Ultramar (Atlas of Spain and its Overseas Possessions), his most important work.
- The contour by Leclercq. The topography by Lebreton, and the lettering by Bacot.
- The map is paper-covered, which gives it more quality and protection for a better maintenance of the paper.
- In the upper left corner is a small plan of the city of Alicante.
- At the other upper edge there is a small map of the outskirts of Alicante.
Conservation and damage:

- The map is in perfect condition.
- The covers are worn and stained, and some corners are bent and torn.
- The map has not suffered from external aggressions such as humidity, insect attacks, rodents, etc.
- The map shows wear and tear typical of it's age.

- The tones of the colours of the photos are not equal to the tones of the real colours.
