Description:
- Reproduction by Rae Boer (Probably Second Half of the 20th Century), of the engraving 'Beggars receiving alms' by Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606 - 1669).
- Etching done in etching water on copper, in monochrome black tones. Signed on the plate 'Rembrandt f. 1648'. Signed in pencil outside the plate 'handprinted by Rae Boer'.
- The engraving depicts a family, with the parents and their two children, receiving alms from an old man at the door of a house.
- It is framed in the second half of the 20th century, with a wooden profile, an off-white cloth passe-partout and a fine black profile, all of good quality.
- Rembrandt is considered, within the Baroque period, one of the best artists of Dutch painting and engraving.
- The engraving is probably on good quality paper, very well inked, with sufficient margins and good centred printing. In any case, both the quality of the paper and the size determined in the 'measurements' would have to be confirmed by removing the print from the frame.
- It is of great importance that the engraving has a Distinctive, Mark or Contrast, in order to be able to identify data such as the engraver, the artist, the place where it was printed and other details.
Conservation and damage:
- General condition Very Good.
- The engraving has not suffered from external aggressions such as humidity, insect attacks, rodents, etc.
- The engraving shows the wear and tear of it's age.
Comments:
- Both the measurements and the weight are approximate. In particular, the measurements of the paper have been considered by estimation, as it has not been disassembled from the frame.
- Very interesting as a collector's item and decorative element.
- The tones of the colours in the photos are not the same as the tones of the real colours.
- The object for sale is the one that corresponds to the photos.
