ENGRAVING ANTIQUE STONE GIFTED BY CHARLES V TO THE CATHEDRAL CHARTRES.

Description:
- Engraved antique stone given by Charles V to the Cathedral of Chartres.
- All the titles and signatures are outside the plate.
- In the upper margin it has the legend 'France (SºXIV) - France (XIVºS)'.
- In the lower margin is the legend 'Pierre antique avec nionture du temps de Charles V, donnée par Charles V à la Cathedrale de Chartres - Antique stone, with garniture from the time of Charles V, given by Charles V to the Cathedral of Chartres'.
- The number '412' is printed in the upper right-hand corner, which suggests that the engraving is number 412 of a series.
- Augustin François Lemaître: French engraver, lithographer, designer, publisher and photographer. He depicted many landscapes, monuments, architecture and people, especially during his many travels in Europe.
- Intaglio etching on steel plate, although another technique could also have been used.

- The engraving is dirty, and the edges are much dirtier, with very small tears, and the tips are slightly deteriorated with slight bends.
- If a light washing and bleaching were applied, the result would be very good.
