ENGRAVING ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS OF THE XIIITH CENTURY

Description:
- Engraving of architectural elements from the 13th century.
- All the titles and signatures are outside the plate.
- In the upper margin it has the legend 'France (XIIIºS) - Francia (SºXIIIº)'.
- In the lower margin is the legend 'Details d0architecture du XIII S - Descriptions of architecture of the thirteenth century'.
- In the upper right-hand corner is printed the number '314', which suggests that the engraving is number 314 of a series.
- Augustin François Lemaître: French engraver, lithographer, designer, publisher and photographer. He depicted many landscapes, monuments, architecture and people, especially during his many travels in Europe.
- Intaglio etching on steel plate, although another technique could also have been used.
- Produced in a single-colour black tone, very well inked.

Conservation and damage:
- General condition: Good.
- The upper side of the paper does not keep the parallel to its opposite side, resulting in an irregularly shaped engraving paper.
- The ink is very good and the print is well stamped.
- The engraving is on medium-thick paper of average thickness and regular quality, glued at the corners to another paper.
- The engraving has suffered from humidity, so the paper has humidity stains and rust spots, all of which are more pronounced as we get closer to the edges.
- The engraving is dirty, with the edges much dirtier, with very small tears, and the tips slightly deteriorated with slight bending.
- A light washing and bleaching would be a very good result.
