Description:
Etching probably in etching steel (can be a plate of another material and another technique). The inking of the plate is good, and both the quality and the definition of the lines is also good, so it responds to an early run. In the lower right corner, outside the image, there is the signature 'Lepetit sc.' In the lower left corner, outside the image, there is the signature 'Danvin del.' The margins are scarce, especially the upper one, which cuts the name of Turkey. Painter: Danvin. Recorder: Lepetit. Printer: unknown. Director: Lemaitre.
It probably could have been bound. Fine paper of regular quality. The edges are slightly deteriorated, very small broken and cut irregularly, with slight folds and bent. It has dirt, rust marks and moisture. The paper is a little yellowish, has some dirt and marks due to rust, especially when approaching the edges. The measurements are approximate. This engraving is rare to find. It is of great interest, because of the documentation it provides concerning the Grand Bridge of Suleiman the Magnificent in Büyükçekmeçe of Istanbul. Currently there is another bridge in the same location that, although it is different, reminds the one that appears in the engraving.
Comments: Due to the fact that the differences in tonalities between photos and reality are inevitable, we must bear in mind that the color tones of the photos are not exactly the same as the tones of the actual colors. The engraving presents the wear characteristic of its time, as well as some stains. It has small flaws. The information provided here are personal opinions not contrasted.
