Description:
- Engraving Cartography of Alicante. Etching on copper.
- The engraving shows the map of the city of Alicante and the surrounding area, its port.
- It has the measurement in 'Varas Castellanas'. The engraving belongs to the travel books of the Frenchman Alexandre Laborde, 'Voyage L'Espagne'.
- In the lower margins, both right and left, are the identifications of the engraver and the draughtsman.
- Alexandre de Laborde, a French writer, traveller, antiquarian and politician, was a great master of his time. He travelled around Spain for years with the intention of drawing up an inventory of places in Spain, which he did.
- It is large in size, unframed and with some rust spots.
- It is very important that the engraving has a distinctive mark or contrast, in order to be able to identify data such as the engraver, the artist, the place where it was printed and other details.
Conservation and Damage:
- Very good general condition.
- The engraving has medium-thickness paper of good quality.
- As can be seen in the photographs, it has some damp marks without affecting the plan.
- It shows the wear typical of it’s age.
