Description:
- Engraving Stamp of Louis VI of France, nicknamed the Fat.
- In the engraving appears the seal of Louis VI of France, in a wide form and taking care of the detail.
- All the titles and signatures are outside the plate.
- In the upper margin is the legend 'FRANCE (XII. S) - FRANCE (S.XII)'.
- In the lower margin it has the legend 'Sceau de Louis VI - Seal of Louis VI (The fat one)'.
- In the upper right corner is printed the number '234', which suggests that the engraving is number 234 of a series.
- Augustin François Lemaître: French engraver, lithographer, designer, publisher and photographer. He depicted many landscapes, monuments, architecture and people, especially during his many travels in Europe.
- Intaglio etching on steel, although a different technique could also have been used.
- It is probably an engraving from a book.
Conservation and damage:
- General condition: Good.
- The ink is very good and the print is well stamped.
- It is in single-colour black, with very good ink.
- The upper side of the paper is not parallel to its opposite side, resulting in an irregularly shaped engraving.
- The upper margin is scarce and irregular and the lower margin is scarce. The side margins are wide.
- The engraving is on medium-thick paper of average thickness and regular quality, glued at the corners to another paper.
- The engraving is dirty, and the edges are much dirtier, with very small tears, and the tips are slightly deteriorated with slight bends. It has small damp and rust stains.
- If a light washing and bleaching were applied, the result would be very good.
