Description:
- Woodcut engraving of ‘La Rada de Alicante’.
- Based on a painting by the painter Rafael Monleón y Torres, a multifaceted artist, archaeologist, historian and Spanish naval pilot. The painting was presented at the last international art exhibition in Munich.
- The engraving belongs to one of the most important illustrated publications (newspaper of the time) of its time. Founded in 1869 by Abelardo de Campos, most of the engravings they published were based on photographs sent by their correspondents.
- The hand-painted woodcut shows several smaller boats and two large galleys on the right-hand side. Several of them show people on board. Alicante and its castle can be seen in the background.
- In the lower left and right margins are the identifications of the artist and the engraver.
