HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN TEAPOT. SATSUMA. JAPAN. TAISHO ERA

Description:
- Porcelain teapot of Japanese origin, in the classic Satsuma style.
- We include it in the Taisho era (1912-1926).
- It is a beautiful golden coloured sugar bowl, with several characteristic Japanese figures. All hand-painted.
- The teapot is a medium-thick, soundless teapot made of white porcelain.
- The figures, painted in great detail, depict six men expressing aggression, against two women expressing tolerance.
- All the figures are intertwined by a dragon with scales in white enamel relief.
- The white enamel is visible at the base, and the seal of the mark is stamped in its centre. This stamp includes a series of signs in gilding on a dark red, which probably identify the place of manufacture, the period and the name of the maker.
- After analysing the teapot, we have come to the conclusion that the technique used is mixed, using decals on some parts and hand-drawing on most of the teapot.
- All these characteristics give the teapot a very interesting patina, with a very attractive and high quality appearance.

Conservation and Damage:
- The teapot is in good condition.
- It is complete, with its original lid. It only has a hair on the upper part of the teapot's mouth, on the inside.
- Some areas show wear to the paint and the gilding, but this is not very important.
- It shows wear and tear typical of it's age.

- We have a matching sugar bowl and milk jug.
- Measurements and weight are approximate.
- The tones of the colours in the photos are not the same as the tones of the real colours.
