Description:
- Hebdomas pocket watch. Visible balance wheel on the obverse with chased gilt bridge. Pendant and crown at 12 o'clock. 8-day power reserve. Breguet balance spring and lever escapement.
- Blued steel case. No front cover.
- White enamel dial. On the balance bridge, in the lower left corner, is the inscription “8 jours” (8 days), and in the lower right corner, the inscription “Hebdomas” (Hebdomas). To the left of the balance wheel are the inscriptions “R” and “S,” and to the right, the inscriptions “A” and “F.” On its sides are gilt filigree vegetal motifs, probably chased.
- The dial is white enamel with black Arabic numerals up to 12 o'clock and red numerals up to midnight. The hands are gilt filigree.
- With the movement cover lifted, the following inscriptions can be seen on the barrel, which occupies the entire case: “ESPIRAL BREGUET” (BREGUET SPINDLE), “LEVÉES VISIBLE” (VISIBLE LEVELS), “8 JOURS” (8 DAYS), “ANCRE” (ANCRE), “QUALITÉ SUPÉRIEURE” (SUPERIOR QUALITY), and “GARANTIE” (GUARANTEE). Also visible are the medals from the Universal Expositions “MILAN 1906,” “BRUXELLES 1910,” and “PARIS 1900.”
Conservation and Damage:
- Working condition, but cleaning, servicing, and adjustment would be necessary.
- The gilt, chased bridge of the visible balance wheel needs polishing, as does most of the movement.
- The blued finish on the steel case is almost entirely gone.
- The piece shows wear consistent with its age.
- Imitations of this type of watch have begun to be manufactured.
