Description:
- Instrumental plumb bob from the first half of the 20th century without a nut and, therefore, incomplete. Solid bronze weight with threaded head.
- The weight is pear-shaped, 8.8 cm high, 3.6 cm in diameter and weighs 212 gr.
- The body of the weight is made of bronze with an iron tip.
- We have found three badges: a date, two initials and a small symbol.
- The hallmarks found are made with a punch, which has a die on it's tip.
- It is dated 1943. It has two initials: 'AM', and above it, a symbol of what looks like a crown. We have not found any data that could provide us with information, although they most probably correspond to the manufacturer.
- The fact that a plumb bob has a distinctive mark or contrast, other than the number of its size, is a very rare detail and of great importance for the interest of the plumb bob.
- A very good and beautiful patina is preserved throughout the plumb bob.
- The quality of the bronze casting and the execution of the plumb bob is very good.
- The plumb bob was probably made in southern Europe.
Preservation and damage:
- The plumb bob is in a good state of preservation, although the Weight has many, but very small knocks and scratches.
- The Plumb bob shows the wear and tear of it's age.
