Description:
- Medal in the shape of an Area of intersection of two circles, stamped in brass. Probably from the end of the first half of the 20th century.
- Medal with flat handle and original ring. Plain edge with no inscription.
- Obverse: Apparition of the Virgin of Pilar. The pillar in the middle, with the Virgin in the upper part and her apparition in the left part together with the angels. St. James the Apostle is kneeling on the right.
- The legend goes back to the year 40, when the Virgin Mary appeared to Santiago Apostle. As a testimony of her visit she would have left a jasper column known as the Pillar.
- Reverse: The Virgin of Pilar appears in the centre, and the motto ,Corte de honor de señoras a María Sª del Pilar en su Angelica capilla, is inscribed around the perimeter.
- No distinctive mark or contrast has been found that could provide information on the place where it was made, the manufacturer,s details, or any other information.
Conservation and Damage:
- The Medal is in a very good state of preservation.
- There is not much wear and tear, and the quality of the high relief is good, both on the obverse and the reverse.
- It has small bumps and scratches due to use.
- It shows the wear typical of it,s time.
