Description:
- Incomplete plumb bob for the construction of the first half of the 20th century, with a bronze weight and without conserving the nut.
- The body of the weight is cylindrical and conical, 13.2 cm. high, 4 cm. in diameter and, 1.140 gr.
- The weight is semi-solid bronze, filled with lead, except for the apex of the cone which is made of iron. The bronze weight has a threaded head.
- A chiselled band can be seen on the Plumb Head.
- A very good and beautiful patina is preserved throughout the Plumb bob. The quality of the bronze casting, and of the execution of the Plumb bob, is very good.
- No distinguishing marks, brands or contrasts have been found that could provide information about the place of manufacture, the manufacturer and other information.
- Probably the Plumb bob is made in the south of Europe.
Conservation and damage:
- The Plumb bob is in good state of conservation, having many, but very small blows and rubs, all corresponding to a quite careful use of the Plumb bob.
- The foundry of the Plumb bob has no imperfections.
Comments:
- Both the measurements and the weight are approximate.
- Spectacular in an illuminated niche, with minimalist decoration.
