Description:
- Incomplete construction plumb bob from the first half of the 20th century. It weighs with a threaded head and without keeping the nut.
- It is shaped like a cylinder and cone, 9.7 cm. high, 3.1 cm. in diameter and weighing 362 gr.
- The body of the weight is filled with a cylinder of lead that can be removed, a very unusual circumstance in a plumb bob.
- It is made up of a conical and cylindrical part. The lower conical part can be unscrewed to reverse its position, and can be screwed back in, with the apex of the cone towards the inside of the cylinder, for protection.
- The execution quality of the Plumb bob is good, both the yellow bronze casting and the turning of the Weight.
- No distinctive mark or contrast has been found on the Weight, which could provide information on the place where it was manufactured, data on the manufacturer, as well as data on its characteristics.
- The Plumb bob is probably made in southern Europe.
Conservation and damage:
- The Plumb bob is in good state of conservation, having the Weight several blows and rubs, so much in the edges and faces. The cast iron of the Plumb bob has no imperfections.
- A very good and beautiful period patina is preserved throughout the Plumb bob.
- The Plumb bob presents the typical wear of its time.
