Description:
- Colour print of The Ferry. Also known as “The Ferry or River Landscape with Ferry”.
- Salomon Van Ruysdael (1603-1670) was a Dutch Baroque painter. Although he also produced still lifes and genre paintings, he specialised in landscape painting, within the Dutch landscape tradition. He was a precursor of Dutch Impressionism.
- The painting depicts a ferry loaded with people, animals and a carriage crossing a river, with a low horizon line and the town of Weesp in the background. This ferry boat theme was recurrent in Ruysdael's work, who often painted it in his river landscapes, full of light and atmospheric movement.
- The print is glued only at the top to a piece of cardboard, which has a beautiful maroon line surrounding the print.
- The print can be lifted, but there is nothing written on it. The description of the print is at the bottom.
- The print is good quality. In colour.
