Description:
- A pretty round candy box made of alpaca silver.
- The box has a floral decoration on top, which appears to be a closed tulip.
- The box is a medium size, perfect for use as a candy box or as a regular box for keys or anything else.
- There are four hallmarks on the base: one of them we have been unable to identify, and the other three are: a large S, which is usually identified as silver plating; Another mark is the number 10, which indicates that the piece has a 10-micron thickness of silver applied over the base metal. The last mark identified is the letters CTV: these marks usually correspond to the manufacturer responsible for applying the silver plating to the bonbonnière. They were used internationally in certain French and Italian metalworking workshops as a variant or workshop code to designate heavy cast white metal alloys.
- With all these marks combined, we can say that this is a quality vintage industrial piece, made of a robust and heavy base metal, marked CTV by the manufacturer, and subsequently coated with a thin layer of silver through an electroplating process.
Conservation and Damage:
-The box is in good condition.
-There is wear on the base, with small stains and scratches due to age.
-The object shows wear consistent with it's age.
