Description:
- Seated warrior sculpture, from the first half of the 20th century.
- The sculpture is made of resin, with a silver plating, and comes with a base. The plating has worn off in various parts of the sculpture, due to age, among other causes.
- It depicts a warrior seated on a pedestal, resembling a capital. He carries a shield on one side and rests his head on one of his arms. We think it could be Alexander the Great or a Roman warrior, given his attire.
- It is quite detailed and of high quality. It is signed, and has the signature on the base, on the back. 'Uribe'.
- Gustavo Arcila Uribe (1895-1963) was a Colombian sculptor, recognized for his national and international successes in the field of sculpture, one of the most prominent Colombian sculptors of the 20th century. His most notable work is the ferro-cement statue of the Miraculous Virgin on the Cerro de Guadalupe in Bogotá, made in 1946 and visible day and night from all over the city.
- This is a curious piece, of considerable collector's value, given its small size and high quality.
